Well detailed but somewhat limited...

First of all, this figure really does well to recapture the original G1 appearance of Soundwave, which I appreciate a lot as a Soundwave fan. It's got a good amount of detail considering it's made close to the scale of Combiner Wars/Titans Return Legends Class figures and even shares the similar amount of articulation. What I really like about this though is how the figure still is even able to hold Lazerbeak in his chest, something that I suspect Hasbro would have left out, had they made a Soundwave figure at this scale.
Unfortunately, I do have a couple notable gripes about this figure though. For the extra price you have to pay compared to Legends CW/TR figures (post included), it would have been nice to have given Soundwave a little more articulation. At the very least, it would have been nice if it had swivel joints between the arms and shoulders, and it would have been ideal if it also had waist articulation.
But my biggest complaint for the figure are with the legs. The thigh swivel is nowhere near as flexible as it could have been, due to the plastic over the knee joints. Because of this, he's more restricted in posing than I would have liked. Not only that but the tabs for transformation do feel too tight and even a little precise, to the point I worry that I might damage the thing if I try to push the tabs into place too hard. However, the plastic does seem to be very sturdy so that fortunately hasn't been a problem for me yet.
Despite this though, I would still consider it a worthwhile figure for anyone looking out for a G1 Soundwave figure that is both compact and relatively affordable, especially compared to some third-party figures. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to do much with it in terms of posing.

Not perfect, but close!

So like a lot of others, I have a dream list of transformers I would love to have, but either can't afford, or they are missing a key element which I dislike. With this guy, you are getting a lot of bang for your buck!

For the cost of a Hasbro Legend figure, you get a fairly accurate and interesting transformer. High articulation only let down by a lack of waist swivel, but you do get a cassette which transformers, and a functional storage chest.

Solid build with tight joints (I hate bobble heads, and floppy arms).

As with the world of transformers, once these are sold out you may not find him again, so he is worth it, if only even as a curiosity piece for your desk.

Based on the price I really can't find fault with him. Would love to see what they make next!
